Question and Answer: DEWALT DC9096-2 18-Volt XRP 2.4 Amp Hour NiCad Pod-Style Battery (2-Pack)

Here are some questions about dewalt 18v battery that was found on Amazon , I have their reference and editing. Hope this can solve your questions.

Question: Will these batteries charge in a DW9108 1 hour charger without problems?

Answer: Yes. This charger will charge any dewalt nicad battery between 7.2 - 18 volt. These batteries can charged on either a DW9108 or the DW9109 chargers.

Question: Does it work with the charger DW9116?

Answer: The DeWalt charger DW9116 will charge from 7.2 - 18 volt batteries. It is usually printed on the charger

.
Question: What is the date code on these batterys?

Answer: 201304UAJAPAN65 369605-41.

Question: Can I use a 9909 battery in a tool that calls to use 9096?

Answer: Any 18v battery will fit and work with any 18v tool, regardless if its the XRP, lithium, low profile, on any other, this goes for tools and batteries. Any can be interchanged with each other as long as the voltage of the tool is the voltage of the battery. The DC 9099 is a low profile battery (0.4" shorter body height) and has a shorter run time than the DC 9096.

Question: Will xrp fit xr tools? my dewalt drill is uses an 18v xr battery. does the xrp battery fit this drill? what is the difference? Thanks!

Answer: Yes, it will. The xrp is the same as xr but with higher capacity, run time.

Question: Can the lith. batteries in place of regular 18v?

Answer: As I recall...DeWalt doesn't recommend this...haven't tried this but one of my subcontractors told me that the battery pack, when opened, simply consists of regular AA batteries ? haven't tried this myself...hope this helps...Thanks

Question: Will my Dewalt drill that has a battery 18v DW 9098 be able to use the battery mDC9096 18v XRP?

Answer 1: Thank you for forcing me to do some research on the batteries I recently bought and reviewed.
As you can see, the DW 9098 has been discontinued. This is the battery that came with my drill originally. The DC9096 18V XRP that I reviewed replaces the original, and it works quite well in my drill. It weighs a little more, but its ampacity (how long it runs the drill on a single charge) is improved, and well worth the slight extra weight.
Thanks for forcing me to look at my batteries more closely.

Answer 2: If the XRP 18 volt battery will fit into the same battery cavity in the drill then you may be able to use this new battery. The XRP is an improved battery that has more energy storage and will run the drill for a longer time before needing to be charged than the old model battery.

Question: Why is this item ineligible for the end of year dewalt sale? 2013 It's Dewalt, and shipped or sold by Amazon. I'm confused. This is weird...

Answer: This item is not eligible for the promotional price unfortunately. The promotion applies to most of the new tools only; not for reconditioned, open box or accessory items.

Question: Does this include the charger?

Answer: Charger does not appear to be included, if you got a charger with your tool and it still works, try it. There should not be a problem. New chargers are still available separately

Question: BATTERIES FOR DW938 & DW955?

Answer: These are NiCad batteries and will fit older models of 18v Dewalt tools that use the NiCad battery type. The newer version of battery is the Lithiom Ion which are smaller, last longer, and have even more power. I am relatively sure that the Lithiom Ion won't fit the older version of Dewalt tools though.

Question: Does this DC9096 replace the DC9009 battery?

Answer 1: Sorry, I don't know. I did replace my very old battery and they were exactly the same size.

Answer 2: According to Dewalts website DC9096 will work on Dewalts entire line of 18v tools. To be safe I would go to their website and email them before I bought one. Its worth waiting a few days to be sure.

Question: If not used and never charged, how long will this battery's life be ?

Answer: Your question asks what the "shelf life" of the unit might be. I would expect at least two years if care for, ymmv. the warranty is an indication of the expendability. Nicads outlast lithiums, and are less expensive if they are an alternative. Your personal experience and grasp of battery storage ideas will be your best answer.

Question: Can the 18v XRP compatible with tools that use 18V XR2. Thanks!

Answer: Miguel, I have several DeWalt battery-powered tools. My four tool set came with a charger and two 18v Ni-Cd batteries - Type 1 - DC9099. They are all black in color with yellow lettering: DeWalt 18v. I ordered a pair of 18v Ni-Cd batteries - Type 1 - DC9096 through Amazon. They have a black body with a yellow top and yellow lettering: DeWalt 18v XRP. The body is 0.4" taller than the 18v Ni-Cd battery - Type 1 - DC9009. The 18v Ni-Cd XRP battery has a longer charge life (run time) than the shorter, all black 18v Ni-Cd battery - Type 1 - DC9099. Both battery types are compatible with my DeWalt tools. I do not have the 18v XR2 battery, but it is also compatible with DeWalt battery-powered tools. To be sure, I called the DeWalt Industrial Tool Co. at 1-(800) 433-9258 and confirmed that the 18v XR2 battery is compatible with any tool that also uses an 18v XRP Ni-Cd battery. Jeff
